Whoever answered said that my computer had been compromised and that they could run a scan and track down the culprit. I realized that this sounded suspicious. My computer was frozen and it seemed like I legitimately needed help. They asked me to push F1R to open up for scanning. Did i open myself up for identity theft, etc.?

They immediately call back to try to reach someone else, up to four times in ten minutes. The last call included the exact phrase "you have to give us a phone number for these calls to stop" while they would not provide a number or contact at their company to discuss a cease to these calls.
